Graphic Design Remains Theater Logo

This is one of my favorite solutions of my career  This logo was for Jeff Garlin's first one-man play at Remains Theater in Chicago. Although I tend to fill sheets of tracing paper with logo exploration, this is one of the first solutions that popped into my head. I believe the shoot-from-the-hip energy is apparent in the solution which features my brush and ink hand-drawn type. This logo won awards (including American Center of Design 100 Show) and was featured in publications (including Breaking the Rules of Graphic Design, 1995).

I run into Jeff every once in awhile and he tells me that he keeps a framed copy of this poster displayed prominently over his desk.
